BPSS Regulations

SHOW REGULATIONS & INFORMATION

 

The entrance to the show hall is at the back of the main building and should be signposted.

 

 

OPENING TIMES   –                  8.00am until 5.00pm Saturday

                                                     8.00am until 3.00pm Sunday

PIGEONS ARE ACCEPTED –   3.00pm until 5.00pm Friday

                                                     8.00am until 10.00am Saturday

 

All pigeons are to be penned by Saturday morning for judging to start at 10.00am.

All exhibits must remain in their pens until basketing at approximately 3.00pm on Sunday, and will then be released from the show as soon as all birds are basketed.

Security Officers have been appointed and will be on duty throughout the show. Only Security will be allowed to spend the night in the show hall.

Birds in the show can only be handled by Judges, Stewards and Officials of the BPSS.

All pigeons in the show will be fed and watered on Saturday after judging by BPSS officials.

Only phone numbers and e-mail details of exhibitors will be printed in the show catalogue unless exhibitors wish their details to be omitted.

 

ADMISSION CHARGES –

Exhibitors with 10 entries or more, Judges, Patrons and Officials of the show will receive a wristband for free admission for both days. These wristbands will be allocated by the Secretary prior to the show and will be the only means of FREE entry into the show hall. Please make sure that wristbands are worn.

Car parking is FREE at the Metrodome in the designated places.

 

ENTRY FEES –

Classes 1, 2, & 3 are £6.00 per entry.

Junior Fancier pigeon classes 5 to 10 are FREE to enter.

ALL OTHER PIGEON CLASSES ARE £3.50 PER ENTRY.

The closing date for entries is Monday 23rd October.

 

All exhibitors in the Junior Fanciers classes must be aged from 7 to their 17th birthday, enter their birds in their own name, have their date of birth entered on the entry form and have all their pigeons registered in their own name.

All pigeon classes are for cock or hen except where stated. Y B classes are for birds rung with 2017 rings. Yearling classes are for birds rung with 2016 rings. Adult classes are for birds bred and rung prior to 2017 except where classes are scheduled for Yearling birds.

There will be no amalgamation of classes.

Prize cards will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in each class, unless clubs award their own.

 

BASKETS –

Baskets will be allowed under the pens during the show. Would all exhibitors please follow DEFRA guidelines on Biosecurity.

 

 

PIGEON DISPLAY AVIARIES –

There will be a limited number of display aviaries available at the show on a first come first serve basis. They are ideal for Breed Clubs or individuals to display their breeds and each aviary will hold between 6 and 10 birds depending on the size of the breed. There is no charge to hire an aviary for exhibitors or a Breed Club holding a club show, otherwise there is a £25.00 charge per aviary. Please contact the show secretary for more details.

 

SALE PENS –

These are available at £25.00 each and must be booked on the entry form. There may be a limited number of spare sale pens available to hire at the show on the day space permitting.

Sale pens can hold up to 6 pigeons, to depend on breed size. Please do not over stock them.

Fanciers will be able to sell their own birds from these pens and to replace any sold birds. All sale birds brought into the hall must be in baskets or boxes with single bird compartments. No crates, etc, will be allowed into the show hall.

Birds sold from the sale pens can be removed from the show hall once a removal pass has been completed for DEFRA purposes and it has been boxed. Boxes, NPA transfers for pigeons and passes will be available near to the sale pen area. Baskets for sale birds can remain in the sale pen area.

 

SALES FROM THE SHOW PENS--

Selling prices are printed in the catalogue for some birds entered in the show. These birds must remain in their pens until the end of the show on the Sunday. Buyers should ask at the show office if they wish to purchase any of these birds.

Other sales from the show pens are allowed but the birds must remain in their show pens until the show closes on Sunday afternoon. Under no circumstances can they be removed earlier. These birds will also require sale bird removal passes to be filled in.

All completed sale bird removal passes must be handed in to the BPSS secretary before the end of the show, or to the doormen before the birds are removed from the show hall.

 

ADVERTS & STANDS –

Breed Club meetings may be held at the show on the balcony overlooking the show hall. Breed Club stand or display space can also be booked free of charge. Tables are available at £5.00 each and must be booked in advance. Adverts from Breed Clubs, individual breeders or businesses are £20.00 per full page, £10.00 per half page or £5.00 per quarter page in the show catalogue. Trade stand space is also available at this show at the rate of £25.00 per metre frontage with the minimum bookable 3 metres. Electricity and tables are also available. Stand booking forms are available from the BPSS Secretary on request. All adverts and stands must be paid for by 5th November.

SUPREME SHOW CHAMPION JUDGING & THE PRESENTATION CEREMONY

 

The 2017 Supreme Show Champion judges are to be the

 BPSS President Gerald Herdsman, Mrs Sheila Goodman and Kevin Wright.

 

The Trophy Section judges will be selected at the show by the BPSS committee. Trophy section judging will take place on the Saturday afternoon. Judging for Supreme Show Champion will take place as close to midday on the Sunday as possible. The birds involved in the Trophy Sections will be transferred to Championship Row on the Saturday afternoon by the BPSS committee.

The Presentation Ceremony will be held at approximately 2.00pm on the Sunday afternoon followed by

the NPA Ring Nomination Presentation and the raffle draw.

 

 

JUNIOR FANCERS

 

Entries to the Junior Fancier pigeon classes 5 to 10 and Junior Fancier classes in the poultry section are free of charge. The BPSS and the NPA would like to encourage all Junior Fanciers to be in attendance at the show, especially to collect any prizes won. Any Junior Fanciers wishing to act as stewards for the judges or to help out at the show can contact the show secretary on the Saturday or Sunday mornings of the show.
